Our 106 schools are located in the country's second most racially diverse city and are spread across 78 square miles. Oakland Enrolls — and Graduates — Older, Immigrant Students Many Districts Deny Home
The struggling Bay Area school system has made it its mission to embrace and educate these new arrivals now threatened by Donald Trump’s election.
They come to the enrollment office at 18, 19, or 20, often without transcripts, identification or immunizations. Some have massive gaps in their education and many speak little English.
