Oakland Enrolls — and Graduates — Older, Immigrant Students Many Districts Deny Home

The struggling Bay Area school system has made it its mission to embrace and educate these new arrivals now threatened by Donald Trump’s election.

They come to the enrollment office at 18, 19, or 20, often without transcripts, identification or immunizations. Some have massive gaps in their education and many speak little English.
